Selene’s Hair-Dagger 

Inspired by the Greek Goddess Selene. Goddess of the moon.

A walk through the art:

Selene, sister to Helios, the sun god, and Eos, the goddess of dawn, governs the ebb and flow of the moon's phases, weaving light and shadow into a mesmerizing tapestry.

The backdrop is comprised of a sparkling crescent moon. The crescent moon symbolizes the divine feminine. 

The hilt is adorned with the Queen of the Night flower. The scientific name of the flower, Selenicereus grandiflorus, indicates it was named after the Goddess, herself. An homage to my mom as this is her favorite flower. They only bloom once a year and only during the middle of the night with a blossom that emits one of the most delicious fragrances one could ever smell. Every year when the bud appears my mom stays up every night, watching and waiting for it to bloom so she can capture an annual photo.

At the center of the cactus flower is a labradorite moonstone. 

A moon phase and sparkling stars are etched down the curved blade.

Materials: Steel and zinc, nickel and lead-free

Dimensions: Approx. 6.5 inches long

Uses: while it is designed to be a hair-stick, hair-sword, or hair-dagger, it can also be used as an athame, altar decor, letter opener, bookmark, decor for a potted plant, a prop for an art doll, or tucked into a belt, thigh garter, or hat band. I'm sure there are even more ways to slay.
